I have been a member of the Environmental Evaluation Unit team at the University of Cape Town for the past 15 years in my capacity as Senior Secretary. In addition to my responsibilities as secretary to the research unit, I have assisted on various courses offered by the Environmental Evaluation Unit, including the Leadership in Sustainable Development Course, Environmental Management Short Course, the Marine Protected Areas Training Course and the four Access and Benefit-Sharing Training Courses held since 2010.
My involvement on these courses include liaising with delegates, handling their travel and accommodation arrangements, overseeing catering and venue logistics, and general administrative assistance. For the 2014 Access and Benefit-Sharing course, as well as all of the aforementioned tasks, I was also responsible for the design and layout of the course manual.
When the Environmental Evaluation Unit was de-registered at the end of 2013, my job title changed to personal assistant to Assoc Professors Merle Sowman and Rachel Wynberg in the Department of Environmental and Geographical Science. My duties have continued as before, but now include administrative support to Assoc Prof Wynberg, the SARChI Chair holder.
Outside of the office I am a wife and mother. I enjoy cooking and baking and practice yoga as often as possible.
